FSU Vision Statement

ERP System and IT Strategies

  • Complete system and integration requirements.
  • Adopt the ERP system as the foundation for FSU's systems, provided that the ERP system proves to be a sound system foundation.
  • Adopt self service and workflow for requisitions, employee time and attendance, travel reporting and updates to the human resource system.
  • Eliminate reports for management information by replacing them with direct accessibility to information using advanced planning systems, business intelligence and queries. Reports will still be used for satisfying compliance requirements.
  • FSU will become self-sufficient in using and maintaining the ERP system.
  • Adopt the ERP system's configuration tool set for implementing and maintaining the ERP system.
  • Users are responsible for implementing and maintaining the ERP system using the configuration tool set.
  • IT is responsible for web portal modifications, form modifications, developing interfaces using Application Program interfaces, and the use of any other tools that are not in the configuration tool set.
  • IT is responsible for the supporting the ERP system's technical architecture and upgrades to the IT infrastructure required to support the ERP system.

Process Improvements

  • Adopt process flows to improve both transaction processes and management processes.
  • Adopt the ERP system's numbering schema as FSU's numbering schema, provided that the ERP system's numbering schema satisfies FSU's requirements.
  • Decision to either imbed classification categories in numbers or to remove classification categories from numbers to be decided during conference room pilot implementation.
  • Standards across the consortium members and other Florida universities to be defined by the Board of Education.

People Improvements

  • FSU to learn the skillsets for maintaining the ERP system by staffing the implementation teams with the people that have to learn the skillsets.
  • FSU to learn the skillsets for using the ERP system by staffing a user training team that is responsible for learning the skillsets and transferring the skillsets to users.
  • Vision team to address and resolve any reorganizations and changes in responsibilities before communicating the vision.
